The Court of Appeal in Abuja has voided the judgement of Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which sacked the Executive Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State.

Delivering Judgement over two judgements brought before the court on Friday, the court upheld the appeals filed against an earlier judgement of the lower court on a suit filed by Samuel Anyakolah at the FCT high court Abuja, claiming that the PDP arbitrarily imposed the state chairman, Exco and other national delegates on members in its South-East zonal Congress of March 6, 2021.

Although, Justice Adeniyi of the FCT High Court, ruling that the PDP violated its constitution in the conduct of the congress, and the appointments made, had declared all congresses and designations made by the PDP null,

The ruling on the case on Friday, saw Justice Adah of the Court of the Appeal court hold that the lower court lacked the territorial jurisdiction to have heard the suit brought before it on the dispute over the leadership of the PDP in Anambra State.

In another development, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) Chief Obiora Okonkwo has quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the November 6 governorship election.

According to media reports, Okonkwo gave the quit notice in a letter of resignation addressed to National Chairman of PDP dated July 24, also stating he had equally written to his ward chairman in Ogidi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra State.

Listing some of the reasons for his decision as unresolved litany of Court cases in the party and PDP not practicing real democracy Okonkwo said his decision was final, stating the PDP would not give him the platform needed to serve his State.
He is yet to announce his new party.
