The Cross River State Commissioner of Police Abdulkadir Jimoh is dead.
According to media sources,
Mr. Jimoh was rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) on Friday morning for what sources say were symptoms of covid-19.
Confirming the incidence, the Chief Medical Director of University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Prof Ikpeme Ikpeme asserted that the police commissioner indeed died of the Corona Virus and was brought to his facility ‘practically dead’.
The CMD, while advising all those who were with him to visit the hospital for COVID-19 test and self isolate, he stated that his remains will not be evacuated for burial immediately due to covid 19 protocols.
Meanwhile, Governor of the state, Ben Ayade has expressed shock and sadness over Jimoh’s death, describing his passing as a great loss to the state, country and the police force.
Urging the late Commissioner of police’s family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity and total submission to God, the governor prayed the Almighty Allah to grant Jimoh’s soul peaceful rest in Jannah.
Jimoh had spent barely five months in office before his demise. He took over from Nkereuwem Akpan in July this year.
