Ahead of the November 6th Gubernatorial Election in the state, APGA chances of expanding their grassroot dominance and winning the election may have received a boost as a grassroot politician, good governance advocate and a former leader of Social Democratic Party in Awka South , Hon. Obinna Ifezue and wife, Dr. Uzoma Ifezue have officially joined The ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA also collapsing his political structures into APGA.
Hon. Obinna Ifezue who was a House of Assembly candidate on the platform of Social Democratic Party SDP, in last state Assembly election few years ago, said he joined the ruling party in the state considering the track records of achievement of APGA as a political party especially the recent test ran Anambra International Cargo Passenger Airport at Umueri, International conference Center in Awka and host of other dividends of democracy being stepped down across the one hundred and eighty-eight communities in the state.
The event which held inside Mbaukwu Civic Center and Pavillion on Friday May 28th, had in attendance many Political Leaders From Obizi Region including the state Lawmaker representing Awka South two in the state house of Assembly, Hon. Nze Chukwuma Okoye, Hon. Dr. Sir Onyeka Ibezim, the Senior Special Adviser To Governor Willie Obiano on Indigenous Medicine and herbal practice, also the manager Anambra state oxygen plant and host of other government functionaries.
In their separate speeches, Hon Dr. Sir Onyeka Ibezim, described Hon. Obinna as a committed grassroot politician who had been giving APGA, as political party series of headache in each election conducted in Obizi, given his connection with the people saying he is happy receiving him in their fold.
According to the former Special Adviser to Governor on youth and sports, APGA remains the only political party in country in the country that is sensitive and championing the Igbo man agenda which he said have been proudly demonstrated by the leadership of Willie Obiano administration, in constructing an International Cargo Airport to further sustain commerce which he also explained are predominantly the Igbo man profession.
While presenting the APGA membership Card to Chief Ifezue, Dr Ibezim said
“it is my pleasure to receive and make you and your wife, who is a professional colleague, a bona-fide member of Apga, by extension a stakeholder. I COMMEND you for taking the bold step by coming into APGA with your wife, Dr. Uzoma Ifezue and members of your campaign team. I urge you to further collapse all your political structures, and bring them into APGA”.
Responding, Hon. Obinna Ifezue who appear to hugely excited, told Dr. Ibezim he took the decision of joining the party after what he called a wide range of consultation with different stakeholders, maintaining that with numerous achievements of current administration, alongside numerous legacy projects fixated like feathers of an Eagle on APGA’s cap, staying in other political parties will be akin to dwelling in political wilderness.
He thanked the APGA Chairman Mbaukwu Ward, the woman leader, The Two Transition Councilors, Entire executives and members of Apga in Awka South for accepting him, wife and his structures into the party assuring them of his support and cooperation henceforth.
In a closing remark, the member Representing Obizi in the state house of Assembly, Honourable Nze Chukwuma Okoye, thanked Apga family Mbaukwu Ward for always believing in him by voting and supporting him and assured them that he will continue to use the instrument of legislation to bring their needs before the government.
He maintained that Mbaukwu Ward meant a lot to him, which was why he ceded councillorship slot due to him to Mbaukwu which made the community to produce two councillorship despite its one ward status.
He however congratulated Hon. Obinna first for joining the party and urged him to remain what he called a committed, true-party-man that will always support the party grass root, prayed that he will achieve all his political aspiration which he couldn’t achieve in other parties in Apga.
The event which climaxed with the issuance of APGA membership Card to Hon. Obinna and wife, and a former woman leader of SDP by Sir Onyeka Ibezim, also had in attendance Chief Don-Poky Nwoye, Deputy Transition Chairman Awka South, Transition Councillors from Awka South,, Mbaukwu youth leader, and host of others dignitaries.
