Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, announced that petrol distribution from the Dangote Refinery would begin on Sunday, with an initial supply of 25 million litres per day. He made this known at a press briefing in Abuja. He said that marketers will purchase the product from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) through its trading company.

Edun, represented by Dr. Zaccheus Adedeji of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, confirmed that starting October 1, NNPC will supply crude oil to the Dangote Refinery, with payments made in naira. In return, the refinery will supply petrol and diesel to the domestic market.

However, industry leaders, including Chinedu Ukadike and Billy Gillis-Harry, have raised concerns over potential monopolies, urging for a liberalized market with transparent pricing.
