Dr Umeadi Attends Anambra Welfare Ass., Manchester Cultural Festival/Iwaji 2022.

OkechukwuThe 2023 Frontline Senatorial candidate of Young Progressives Party (YPP) for Anambra Central Senatorial District, High Chief (Dr) Chinedu Anthony Umeadi, On July 30, 2022, joined the Anambra Welfare Association, Manchester, United Kingdom, to celebrate their Cultural Festival and Iwaji 2022.
Dr Umeadi, who was a guest speaker at the event gave a talk on, “The Role Of People In Diaspora In The Growth Of Nigeria”.
Dr Umeadi during his talk, reminded them of who they were as Ndi Anambrarl in the Diaspora, their strength/power, as Ndi Anambra in the diaspora, and how they could use their strengths/powers to attract development to the state.
Speaking on the qualities/characteristics of Anambrarians in the diaspora, Dr Umeadi described them as people who were resilient, resourceful, courageous, smart, result oriented, and keen on comradeship.
He identified some of their strengths/powers as having financial capacity, having voice amongst their peers and kinsmen in Nigeria, and having good followership.
The YPP Senatorial candidate discussed the current challenges in Nigeria which include insecurity, economic instability/poverty, political unrest, and bad governance.
The medical expert implored them to channel their strength towards building their communities, and to adopt the think home philosophy.
Dr Umeadi advised that they could start by engaging in charity works, setting up foundations to help the less privileged, getting involved in politics by insisting that their followers/wards get their PVCs to be able to vote in the right candidates during the February 2023 general election.
He then encouraged them to ensure that they visit home regularly in order not to lose touch with Anambra and to inculcate the Igbo culture and tradition in their children.
Other speakers at the event were High Chief Prof. Charles Egbu (Vice Chancellor, Leeds University, UK), and Chief Dr. (Mrs) Kate Anolue, (two time Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield).
Highlights on the occasion were traditional cutting of yam to mark the Iwaji festival, breaking of cola nuts and prayers.
Dances by different age groups and women, as well displays by different masquerades also featured at the event which was well attended by the Anambra community in the United Kingdom.
Dr Umeadi remains an adept custodian of the Igbo tradition and culture, and continues to call on Ndi Igbo to ensure they vote the right candidates during the February 2023 general election.
