The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has reacted to a publication accusing it of inability to handle power distribution in Anambra State.

A press statement by the management of the company also reacted to allegations that the state government paid the sum of N100billion to it.

Clarifying on the drop in power supply in Anambra, the company explained that EEDC is a distribution company, with license only to distribute electricity.

EEDC added that it does not generate electricity, neither does it transmit electricity, but only distributes that which is generated and transmitted to it adding that it will be unfair to blame EEDC of not providing adequate electricity in the South East, a situation that is totally beyond its control.

It said there is no truth in the rumour that it owed TCN N12billion, leading to refusal of the transmission company to transmit power to it.
