Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi has been suspended by the Ekiti State Executive committee of the APC.
The suspension was announced in a statement on Friday.
According to committee, the governor was suspended due to his numerous involvement in anti party activities which was contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution.
They claimed that five days before the Edo election, Fayemi hosted Femi Fani-Kayode of the PDP in the Government House in Ado-Ekiti and planned a coup against Edo APC.
They also alleged that the governor played a role in the governorship election in Oyo State and supported the PDP candidate to defeat the APC candidate.
In reaction, Fayemi referred to the suspension as a joke taken too far.
In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Yinka Oyebode, he said the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party is governed by laws, adding that members of the group cannot hide under their recent suspension to announce a dubious suspension they lack the locus to handle.
Mr. Oyebode maintained that Governor Fayemi remains unperturbed by the antics of suspended members.
He urged the public and members of the APC to disregard the news of the purported suspension as it only exists in the imagination of members of the group.
