Former Governor of Imo state , Emeka Ihedioha, has denied writing to Abubakar Malami, the attorney-general of the federation (AGF), not to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
A letter in Ihedioha’s name which was written to the AGF surfaced online on October 16.
The content of the letter alleged that the governor beckoned on the AGF not to release Kanu to ensure stability and peace in the south-east.
However , in a statement on Sunday, the former governor pointed accusing fingers at Governor Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo, and the APC as being responsible for the forged letter.
According to report, Ihedioha said that it appears that some people are not satisfied with their stolen mandate and want to drag him out by an orchestrated campaign of lies. He noted that those carrying out this campaign of calumny against his person are doing so at the behest of the same man who was imposed on Imo state.
He said that their their dilemma is not being able to win the hearts of Imo people even after succeeding in their evil plot of removing him from office, which is also frustrating for his political opponents .
He said they have forged documents, concocted voice messages, perjured and maximised the social media in throwing mud to see if any one sticks while using issues that are very dear to the people in this nefarious project.
He said that the purported letter attributed to him is laughable and preposterous, as he has no basis to ask the government to continue to illegally hold on to Nnamdi Kanu even after a court of competent jurisdiction had discharged him.
Ihedioha said he has decided not to keep silent again in the face of this criminal defamation of his character and asked security agents to investigate the source of the letter and bring to justice the perpetrators.
