The Nibo born philanthropist and lover of education High Chief Hon Sir Ichie Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor has felicitated with the Traditional Ruler of Nibo HRM Eze Ugonwanne Dr Sir MC Ngene (Ezeike 4th of Nibo) and Nibo Community for their successful 2022 ILIJI OHUU NIBO, which is usually celebrated every last Saturday of August, every year as a special day mapped out for Nibo New Yam Festival.
Ozo Sir Jerome Ugagu who organised the Festival as the Chairman Nibo Cultural Committee, thanked God for giving them the grace to pilot the affairs as it was their first program since he was appointed as the Chairman of Nibo Cultural Committee.
Nibo President General Prof Tony Nwokoye also appreciated Umu-Ezeike for their support towards the successful ILIJI OHUU NIBO and asked them for more of their support towards his leadership as Nibo President General.
Another Nibo Born Philanthropist Ichie Kodilichukwu Dominic Enemuo who, appreciating Ezeike Nibo , also thanked God for his life as he prayed that God will continue to uphold him with more of his wisdom and knowledge as He gave to King Solomon in the Bible.
The vicar of Holy Trinity Anglican Church Ifite Nibo Rev’d Cannon Emma Ajako who decleared the ceremony open with prayers and thanksgiving also thanked God for giving Nibo Community an opportunity to witness His love.
The ceremony which was held at Ezeike Nibo’s Palace witnessed breaking of kolanut and official cutting of the New Yam by HRM Eze Ugonwanne Dr Sir MC Ngene JP (Ezeike 4th of Nibo).
The ceremony was graced by many Traditional Rulers of different Communities in Awka South, among whom were Traditional Ruler of Ezinato HRM Igwe Timothy Nwaka, Traditional Ruler of Nise, HRM Igwe R.N Iloh (Ise N’ Ise) and many others. Nibo Union Executives, members of Ezike Nibo in Council and other dignitaries from Nibo and environs were present to celebrate with Nibo Kingdom.
In his own speech, Ozo Jerome Ugagu , who is also the cultural chairman of NIBO described new yam festival as a time of bountiful harvest. He thanked God for the life of Ezeike and his subjects to witness this year’s new yam festival and prayed for better years of bountiful blessings ahead.
