Enugu State Police Command has said that Police Operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants who attacked one of its checkpoints.
The unknown gunmen had on Saturday evening, attacked a police checkpoint located at Amodo Obeagu in Enugu South Local Government Area of the state. Four officers lost their lives during the deadly attack.
It was learnt that the gunmen stormed the police checkpoint in two Sienna cars and shot consistently for several minutes even after killing the policemen.
Some of the surviving policemen sustained heavy bullet wounds that eyewitnesses said lasted for about five minutes.
In a short message, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said: “Police Operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants.
