The Enugu State Government has earmarked N2 billion for the establishment of farm estates across its 260 wards in 2025. Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Patrick Ubru, announced this initiative, aimed at promoting self-sufficiency and enhancing food security.
Under the “One Political Ward, One Farm Estate Initiative,” residents will receive training in best agronomy practices and access to high-yield seedlings. The initiative will also address farmer-herder conflicts by securely fencing the estates and providing 24-hour security.
Governor Peter Mbah’s administration is certain that this project will create jobs, particularly for youths, and boost economic growth in the state.
