In a related development, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the Local Government Elections for Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The Chairman of the commission, Prof Christian Ngwu, has urged all registered political parties to adhere to the set date and collect election guidelines from the Headquarters of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) at Independence Layout Enugu.
The decision to fix the election date follows a court order that prompted the adjustment of the original guideline and timetable published in the official gazette of Enugu State. The postponement, as directed by a High Court judgment, necessitated the shift of the election from its initial date of February 24 to October 5, 2024.
According to report, the rescheduling of the Local Government Elections in Enugu State aligns with legal directives and aims to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process. Political parties and stakeholders are expected to cooperate with the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission to facilitate a smooth and successful election day.
