

A Fatal Road traffic crash which occurred at Obinaetiti Akwuzu by Nteje-Onitsha Expressway, on Friday, 21st January 2022, between two vehicles claimed the life of one of the drivers.
A release issued by the Acting Sector Public Education Officer, DRC Margaret Onabe, said the crash occurred at about 19:30hours, between an unidentified driver of a Blue Mercedes 911 with registration number: XA129AWK and unidentified driver of a Honda Accord car with registration number: RBX155PC.


The probable cause of the fatal crash was attributed to obsruction (OBS) and excessive speed.
According to an eyewitness report, the Mercedes 911 driver sighted sand and gravel in his front being used by the construction company, slowed down, causing the Honda driver following behind on speed to ram into the 911 and crashed.
According to the report, 3 male adults were involved in the crash and while two of them were rescued unhurt, the driver of the Honda car lost his life.
As at the time of filling this report, the dead victim was deposited at Wisdom Mortuary, Awkuzu. The truck was taken to FRSC base Nteje, while efforts were made by the rescue team to clear the obstruction.
Reacting to the incident, the State Sector Commander, FRSC, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, commiserated with the family of the dead victim.
He seriously warned Motoring public to desist from excessive speed and be at alert while driving, asserting that Traffic rules and regulations must be obeyed at all times.
