Fatal Road Traffic Crash At Ukpo, Onitha-Nteje Expressway On Wednesday Claims One Life – FRSC
Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command said a fatal road traffic crash which occurred on Wednesday, 28th December, 2022 before Ukpo junction, along Onitsha- Nteje- Awka Exp. way, claimed at least one life.
A release signed by the
Ag Sector Public Education Officer, RC Margaret Onabe, said the traffic crash which occurred around 2.25pm,
involved two vehicles
I) A Commercial Toyota/Hiace bus with Reg. No: JRV 616 XA, and a commercial Toyota/Hiace bus with Veh Reg. No: JJJ 179 XS.
The release informed that the probable cause of the fatal crash was ROB, SPV
According to eyewitness, one of the tyres of the bus with registration number JRV 616 XA pulled while in motion, which resulted in a collision with the oncoming bus.
According to her, Fourteen persons were involved in the crash comprising (4 male adults and 6 female adults, 1 male child and 3 female children).
Eight persons, comprising three male adults, three female adults and three female children) sustained varying degrees of injury, while 1 male adult was killed.
The release said, “The crash victims were rushed to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka where the doctor confirmed one dead on arrival, and was deposited at the mortuary.
“Others are taking treatment after reaching first aid from the nurse detailed at FRSC help area, Nteje” it added.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, has comesurated with the families of the dead victim, and prayed for quick recovery for the injured persons.
He warned motorists to desist from excessive speed and Wrongful Overtaken especially this festive period that the road is very busy.
Irelewuyi advised them to drive to save lives on the roads.
