The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement on Tuesday, congratulated Nigerians on the celebration and urged them to reflect on the efforts of their founding fathers to ensure a united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible nation.
The statement also highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to positive reforms to revive the nation’s economy and enhance security. The minister called on Nigerians to appreciate the progress made and look forward to a better future for Nigeria’s democracy.
This public holiday is part of the celebrations marking Democracy Day, which includes a parade, youth summit, and dinner. Nigerians are encouraged to remain steadfast on the tenets of democratic governance and appreciate the progress made so far.
