Following the confirmation of a second wave of Covid-19, the Federal Government has clarified that it has not declared another lockdown of the country .

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made this known when he featured on a radio programme on Tuesday.

Lai Mohammed said that the directives and position of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 during its briefing on Monday did not mean lockdown as being circulated in the media.

Stating that a lockdown might have negative effects on the already stressed economy, he explained that the Federal Government only reduced the chances of Mass gathering by directing workers from level 12 and below to work from home.

He also said that the government’s existing ban on night clubs and other Covid-19 protocols still remain in place.
