The federal government special public works programmes set to engage 774,000 unemployed youths is set to take off on Today, the 5th of January 2020.

This was made known in a tweet by the minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo on Sunday night,

According to Keyamo, the kick-off was confirmed after the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He also noted All National Directorate of Employment state structures are already in top gear for the take-off ceremonies.

The special public works programme is set to engage 1,000 unemployed Nigerians from the 774 local government areas in the country.

It was meant to kick-start on October 1st , 2020, but then rescheduled to 1st of November 2020 but it still did not hold due to a power tussle between Keyamo and the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment, Nasir Ladan, who was sacked for undisclosed reasons in December 2020.
