FG begins distribution of 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles

The Federal Government has launched the distribution of 2,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tricycles to empower Nigerian youths. The initiative, part of the 64th Independence Day celebrations, aims to reduce transportation costs and promote clean fuel usage.

Michael Oluwagbemi, Project Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, announced that the tricycles were assembled in Shagamu and will create jobs in operations and maintenance.

He emphasized that this initiative is a step toward utilizing Nigeria’s abundant gas resources for economic development.

Minister for Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, highlighted the tricycles’ potential to ease transportation challenges and improve the quality of life for young people. The government aims to reach a target of 2 million CNG tricycles, reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable transportation solutions.
