The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education, OSSAP-TVEE, to boost the 2.5 million job target by the ministry’s Labour and Employment Empowerment Programme (LEEP) initiative.
Speaking during the event in Abuja, Friday, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, stated that the partnership is aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and skill development in Nigeria, particularly among the youths and women.
She disclosed that the strategic alliance between the Ministry and OSSAP-TVEE would focus on vocational, technical, and entrepreneurial skills critical for economic development and growth.
The minister noted that the partnership would work to achieve the President’s 8-point agenda on job creation and drive innovation, productivity, and competitiveness in the global market.
The Minister expressed appreciation to Ms. Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, and her team for their collaboration and reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to the success of LEEP.
She described the partnership as a significant milestone in the journey towards enhancing employment opportunities and skill development in Nigeria.
According to her, the partnership is also expected to yield remarkable results and set a new benchmark for public sector collaboration.
