Nigeria's airport will be doubled by the Federal Government before 2023 -  Minister | Intel Region

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has announced that the Federal Government would construct 10 new airports across the country to boost civil aviation. He made this known when defending his Ministry’s 2021 budget proposals before the Senate Committee on Aviation.

The minister said that the aviation sector has grown in 2018 to become the second fastest growing sector of the economy and it climaxed in 2019 as the fastest growing sector of the economy with increased GDP contribution.

He also said that visible growth in the aviation sector has been evident in the growing number or airports from 2015.

Sirika stated that seven new airports have been added to the map.eith some completed and some others under construction.

He announced that new airports will be constructed in some states such as Anambra, Benue, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Lafia, Damaturu, etc.

He also mentioned that the national carrier, Nigeria Air , part of the Aviation sector Roadmap, would be delivered before 2023.
