Finance Minister Suspends Accountant-General Indefinitely Over N80bn Fraud
The Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has been suspended indefinitely by the Minister of Finance, budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.
Idris was suspended on Wednesday, following his indictment for fraud worth N80 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, who confirmed Idris’s arrest on Monday, revealed that the Accountant -General, Ahmed, was arrested after he failed to honour invitations by the EFCC.
The anti-graft agency is accusing Idris of diverting funds and laundering N80billion.
