Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigeria needs a rebel leader, someone who will stand up against any wrongdoing and choose what is best for the country.

Obasanjo made this known on Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State at the unveiling of the autobiography of the Babanla Adinni of Egbaland, Chief Tayo Sowunmi, titled “Footprints Of A Rebel”.

The autobiography was unveiled as part of the celebration of the 80th birthday of Sowunmi, a former activist and elder statesman.

Obasanjo, had before the unveiling submitted that whoever must live a life of honesty and integrity has to be a rebel.
He said that looking at the title, he wondered how someone would call himself a rebel. He, however, said that to leave a life ⁵kof honesty and integrity, one will have to become a rebel. He said such a person may become persona non grata.

He concluded that having rebels is one of the greatest steps towards rebuilding Nigeria.

He also commended the octogenarian for living an exemplary life worthy of emulation by the younger generation.
