The Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has tasked all Commanding Officers across the country to intensify special operations targeted at offenders. This is in line with the ongoing Operation Sanity aimed at resorting sanity to the nation’s highways.

In a press release signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Marshall expressed dismay over continuing incidents of fatal crashes caused by speed violation as a result of most drivers’ failure to install speed limiting devices in their vehicle despite repeated warnings.

He said that henceforth, the FRSC management has decided to clamp down on such recalcitrant violators who must be subjected to the fullest sanctions provided by law to serve as deterrence for others.

Kazeem also stated that in the closure of the operations, drivers that are caught with fake, expired or forged drivers licence would have their vehicles impounded and appropriate measures taken against them. To that effect, he warned drivers to ensure they have valid driver’s licence and necessary car documents to avoid having their vehicles impounded.

Recall the FRSC had in the previous years initiated the ideas of speed limiting devices in commercial vehicles as a way of involuntarily controlling speeds which had been identified as the main causative factors in road traffic crashes.
