The National president of the socio-cultural organisation, Fulbe United for Peace (FUP) Ardo Aliyu Liman Bobboi, has lamented that the continued mention of Fulani herders in killings across the country disturbs them deeply.
He said this during a national leadership consultative meeting supported by Arewa New Agenda (ANA) in Abuja,on Sunday. Leaders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) agreed to deploy traditional means to fight criminals posing as Fulani.
In a communique released after the meeting, Bobboi stated that they will use a traditional approach deeply rooted in the Fulbe tradition and culture, known as Hombudu, to put an end to any form of criminality in the name of Fulbe.
The communiqué also outlined other agreements reached during the meeting, as “developing a strategic network with relevant authorities for Fulbe youth nationwide” and “seeking a local workable solution from within.”
The group aims to promote national forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing of the wounds that have affected Nigeria. Emphasizing their role in national development, the communiqué urged the government to consult with Ardo’s leadership on policy matters concerning the Fulbe community.
Furthermore, the communiqué highlighted the Fulbe’s nationwide support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election and expressed their backing for all efforts by the incumbent government, led by President Tinubu and other stakeholders, to bring peace and security to the country.
