Nolllywood star, Genevieve Nnaji, has been chosen as one of the ambassadors for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The Lion Heart producer will join about 50 celebrated filmmakers including the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Tatiana Maslanya, and Shamier Anderson for the 2020 edition of the festival, which is slated to commence virtually from September 10 to 19.
According to Deadline, the ambassadors will engage with audiences through interactive digital experiences and events.
Geoff Macnaughton, senior director of Industry & Theatrical, TIFF, said that In a time of disruption, professionals from around the world still look for occasions to come together, share innovative ideas, buy and sell content, and find creative ways to collectively forge ahead towards a safer, healthier, and inclusive future.
He also stated that this year delegates can expect to find community, connection, inspiration, and talent which is the foundation that will serve as the way forward.
The new invitees include Hiam Abbass, Haifaa Al-Mansour, Shamier Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Olivier Assayas, among others.
In July, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) had released a list of its new 819 invitees drawn across the globe.
