Governor of Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on 5th November 2022 was on an on-the-spot assessment visit to the Oko erosion site in the Orumba North Local Government Area.
Governor Soludo while inspecting the gully erosion site said the government will set up a committee to craft a permanent solution to the menace. According to him, the committee will comprise of the traditional rulers, the President general of town unions of the affected communities, and other critical stakeholders to discuss the possible solutions to their plight.
Governor Soludo equally made a thirty million naira donation to the Oko community trust fund to aid the social intervention works being carried out by the community pending the State government interventions in the area.
He also visited the Umuchu- Iburugbu – Umunze failed portion of the road.
Speaking during the visit Governor Soludo assured the communities that contractors will come to the site by next week for intervention work to make the road motorable during the festive season while a detailed assessment will go on.
Present during the visit are the Member representating Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency and APGA Candidate for Anambra South Senatorial seat Hon. Chris Azubuogu, Member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly Hon. Emeka Afforka, Commissioner for works Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Commissioner for special duties Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, Commissioner for Environment Engr. Felix Odimegwu, and other stakeholders.
