
Governor Willie Obiano has called on religious groups and leaders in the state to pray to God for the promotion of peace as the country turns 60. The governor made the call during a special Thanksgiving Service organised by the state government to mark the country’s 60th anniversary at the cathedral of at faith, Awka.
The governor who was represented by the secretary to the government , Prof Solo Chukwulobelu , thanked God for the gift of good leaders that Anambra has been blessed with . He also noted that with an array of brilliant people in Nigeria, the nation’s glorious destiny is still attainable in spite of trials and setbacks.
The governor , specially noted, that the state has done well in areas of security of lives and properties and has been currently ranked as the most secure state in the country and also declared the least in unemployment rate in the country after Rivers State.
The anniversary which was led by the Archbishop of the Province on the Niger ad Bishop of Awka Anglican Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Alexander Ibezim. The Prelate , who addressed the poor state of the Nation and obvious hopelessness, called the leaders to live up to their responsibilities as elected representatives of the people.
The Archbishop , also prayed for the country and the leaders.
A large number of clergy and lay Christians, the Chief Judge of Anambra, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Service Chiefs , members of Anambra State Executive Council, amongst others , were in attendance.
