Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has expressed mixed reactions to the Supreme Court’s decision granting financial autonomy to local governments. Speaking in Uyo on Monday, the Governor said that while he supports the judgment, he was concerned about local governments continuing to pay their workers’ and teachers’ salaries.

Governor Eno emphasized that despite the autonomy, local governments must fulfill their financial responsibilities to avoid burdening the state government with unpaid salaries and pensions. He called for a balanced approach to ensure the effective implementation of this autonomy.
