A group, Make Anambra Great Again, staged a peaceful protest on Friday against rising insecurity in Anambra State and alleged excesses of the government-backed Agunechemba vigilante outfit.

The walk, led by YPP governorship candidate Paul Chukwuma, began at Aroma Junction and ended at the state police command in Amawbia.

Chukwuma accused the vigilante of carrying prohibited arms and dehumanising citizens, citing the recent assault on a corps member as an example.

Responding, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Ezekiel commended the protesters for being peaceful and assured that allegations of misconduct would be investigated.

He pledged the command’s commitment to ensuring safety, lawful engagement, and stakeholder collaboration.
