Youth Advocate For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network (YAPJEN) has called on President Buhari to end the security challenges in the southeast zone by granting Presidential Pardon to the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The group has also blamed Buhari for what it described as creating the hitherto unknown Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and making him a hero by imprisoning him.
In a statement by its president, Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, the group noted that Buhari went ahead to justify IPOB’s agitation by sidelining the southeast zone from his appointment, especially in the security circles.
YAPJEN however advised President Buhari and members of his cabinet to apply the carrot and stick approach in dealing with secessionist groups.
It further urged the President to start a genuine reconciliation process that would heal the nation by engaging and compensating the families of the victims of the secessionist group.
Similarly, Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, President of YAPJEN has stated that the group have a credible report that some aspirants in the November 6th Anambra guber election are planning to collude with a serving Federal Minister to import soldiers into Anambra State to pave way for the mass rigging of the poll.
He, therefore, tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with peaceful and transparent conduct of the Governorship poll that will reflect the will of the generality of Ndi Anambra.
He confirmed that there are security threats in Anambra State but however warned that it will be better off for INEC to postpone the polls until normalcy is restored than to militarise the poll and thwart the collective will of Ndi Anambra.
Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu urged the Federal Government to find a political solution to the security threat occasioned by the unknown gunmen as well as address the grievances of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and all those who are threatening to stop the forthcoming Election in Anambra State.
The group further called on political actors to refrain from making inflammatory statements that will overheat the polity, restating that no political ambition of any man is worth the blood of another, even as he urged Anambra youths to reject every form of inducement to be used as tools for political violence and thuggery.
