Gunmen invaded Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria, on Monday, killing several residents including the local vigilante commander, Eloka Mbajekwe.
The attack began around 11 a.m. when the gunmen confronted commercial riders about not observing a sit-at-home order and then opened fire. The attackers also targeted a hotel, resulting in more casualties and abductions.
The violence extended to Nnobi, a nearby community, where more people were shot and vehicles were stolen. The Anambra State police confirmed the incident, reporting multiple fatalities and injuries.
