
Gunmen Kidnap Woman, 3 Others in Anambra
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Thursday, abducted a woman and three other persons at Emecourt Road Junction, Nnewi Nnewi North LGA, Anambra State.
Eyewitnesses said the armed men, alighted from their vehicle, stopped a yet-to-be-identified lady who was driving in a Sports Utility Vehicle, forced her out of her car, bundled her into the back of her vehicle, together with three other persons and immediately zoomed off.
The said the suspected kidnappers operating in a Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle, had stopped at Emecourt Road Junction when they noticed that their vehicle had developed a fault.
According to one of the eyewitnesses, “The armed men abandoned their vehicle when they saw that it had developed fault and stopped a lady who was also driving an Highlander. They forced the lady to the back seat.
“They brought out other suspected victims from their faulty vehicle and transfered them all into the lady’s Highlander Toyota snatched from her..
“But one of the victims, a man, who was blindfolded, removed the blindfold and escaped into a nearby local market while his abductors hurriedly zoomed off with other victims with the Highlander vehicle.
“The incident created panic in the area and around the nearby market as the hoodlums who operated with quick speed had left before the security operatives, including local vigilance group and police, arrived the scene.”
However, when contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the incident had not been reported to him, promising to make inquiries.
