
The motion by the member representing Nnewi North/South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu on the floor of the National Assembly has evoked national conversation regarding insecurity , especially in relations to Anambra South and borders towns surrounding Imo state.
In his motion titled, “Urgent Need To Restore Security in Anambra State Which Will Arrest The Killing of Innocent Citizens By Criminals and Non-State Actors”, he called for the executive to mobilize all the instruments of the government for the restoration of security in Anambra state.
Following the motion, the Lawmakers commended the security agencies for all their effort in curbing these incessant killings.
The House urged the National Security Adviser (NSA), Inspector General of Police, Director General State Security Services,Army, Navy and other Security establishments to form a joint task force to restore security in Anambra state especially within the local government areas bordering Imo state.
The House also observed a minute silence in memory of Chief Gab Ofoma, Mr Sule Matthew , security men and women and other innocent citizens that have been brutally murdered through these senseless killings by criminals.
Recall that in 2021, Azubogu’s convoy was attacked by unknown gunmen on Nnewi-Nnobi road on his way back from Awka to Nnewi.
