ICT Sector Records an Unprecedented Increase to the GDP

The Information and technology (ICT) sector has contributed 17.92 percent to the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2021.

The minister of communications and digital economy , Isa Pantami made this known on Tuesday at the unveiling of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) strategic vision plan for 2021-2025 in Abuja.

He said that compared to 14.91 percent in first quarter of 2021 and 17.83 percent in the previous year, ICT contributed 17.92 percent to GDP in second qaurter 2021.

Pantami represented President Mohammed Buhari on the ocassion. Commending the board of the NCC and hoping they will maintain the tempo, he said the record is unprecedented.

He said that the government will continue to provide the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive and form policies that will make the sector more viable.
