The Igbo in the diaspora and the Pan Niger Delta Forum have promised to resist any attempt to rig the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 6, urging stakeholders to ensure that the poll was free, fair and devoid of intimidation.

They stated this during a Zoom conference organized by a rights group – “Civil Society Committee for Anti-fraud Election Security.”

Speaking at at meeting, the chairman of the World Igbo Assembly, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze stated that Anambra State, being the Igbo heartland, was being targeted by external forces trying to hijack the South-East region, which should be resisted.

On his part, the Chairman of the World Igbo Congress, Prof Anthony Ejiofor warned that the WIC, under his leadership, would stage a heavy protest in America against the outcome of the governorship poll if it was manipulated following militarilization of the polity.

Meanwhile, The PANDEF, represented by its Publicity Secretary, Ken Robinson – who spoke from the United States of America and Germany, urged INEC and security agencies to ensure that the election was not manipulated.

Also speaking at the conference, former Minister of Women Affairs, Chief Josephine Anenih, warned that those sponsoring bloodletting in the state desist from such act, as it as a sacrilege that could bring a generational curse upon the perpetrators.

Journalists and people of the state were also urged by the convener of the conference, Kennedy Iyare, to use the group’s anti-fraud situation room to expose any unwholesome activities during the poll.
