The traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu kingdom , His majesty , Igwe Peter. N. Anugwu, has decried political tension that has engulfed Agulu town union since the expiration of tenure of immediate past President General of Agulu community, Chief Andy Orakwelu , urging those fanning embers of discord , confusion and disunity in the town to desist from such so as to allow meaningful development to birth in the community.

The community monarch, a former director with Construction giant, Julius begger international , said this when the embattled- yet to be recognized-by-the-state-government- President General of Agulu community , Chief Oliver ahamefuna paid him a courtesy visit in his palace Mbaukwu , on Thursday February 4th, 2021.

According to Igwe Mbaukwu , The state government has no power to decide who becomes a president General of a community but has the constitutional powers and provisions to monitor town Union electoral process , insisting that it is the masses that has the power to elect who leads them in accordance with the approved constitution. He added that in any democratic dispensation , election are held to keep democracy in check.

He urged the state government to desist from meddling in town union politics as that will only bring shame and disrespect on the credibility of government adding that in a democratic environment, the will of masses and voice of Majority will always remain supreme.

He also revealed that in no distant time, a coalition of Ndi Nwadiana Agulu, which he said, he will spearhead, and will come out to protest what he called uninvited interference and ask question regarding the reasons behind the continued interference of state government In town union affairs particularly that of Agulu, appealing once again that those behind the unhealthy politics to retrace their steps to allow the wishes of the people to prevail.

Responding , the embattled President general of Agulu , chief Oliver Ahamefula, thanked the monarch whom he described as the true son of Agulu, for his fatherly advice and concerns for peace and tranquility to return to Agulu.

Explaining further , Chief Ahamefula maintained that a peaceful , free , fair and credible election conducted on 29th of December had produced him as the community president general alongside other executives of the town union adding that they have been sworn in into office , as the constitution of Agulu community demands by Hon.Justice thoephulis oguji.

When our correspondent Udoka Nwokoye asked the embattled PG, the raw political reasons behind the unrest in the town union , he narrated that Hon. Azubike okoye , a former law maker had wrote an underserved petition to the state government though the office of Honorable Commissioner for local Goverrnment , Town Union and Chieftaincy matters that Agulu town union is in crisis on 21st , December 2021 , nine days to the community general election advising the government to install a caretaker committee to be headed by Professor Joe Ogbuagu

According to the letter, which was presented by Chief Ahamefuna , that Hon. Azubike okoye has not debunked the fake news , pointed out that Prof. Ogbuagu is a strong APGA member who has distinguished himself adding every Agulu man will have no issue with his candidacy.

He revealed that unfortunately ,that Prof Joe ogbuagu , after studying the condition of caretakership was installed , rejected the offer and advised the state Government to allow the will of the majority of Ndi Agulu to prevail by recognising the new executive.

However , chief Oliver regretted that over a months of being elected as the new president general Agulu town union , the state Government is yet to recognise him and accord him the necessary attention and documentation he deserved as the new president general of the community.
