The Egbelu Obube Community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State has condemned the attack, kidnap and attempted murder of Okenze George Nkwoji, the Traditional Prime Minister (TPM) of the community.
The community insisted that the perpetrators of the dastardly act must be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to potential felons who might want to indulge in such heinous crimes in future.
The community made its stance known in a statement signed by the President-General, Patrick Umunnakwe; Deputy President-General, Dickson Uruawuuike and 10 others.
It was gathered that the TPM, who is also the Publisher of Nigeria Moment Newspaper, was on February 11, 2022, attacked and ferried to the forest by some hoodlums who tortured and manhandled him.
The miscreants also vandalized his country home in Umuchoko Village, Egbelu Obube and Armada Jeep.
The community described Okenze Nkwoji as an illustrious son who has deployed his wealth and position to enhance the lives of the people including the lives of those who attempted to kill him.
The community submitted that no reason whatsoever was genuine for anybody to make attempt on the life of the Traditional Prime Minister and described the attack unleashed on the publisher as barbaric and primitive.
It noted that individuals, families, villages and communities are sometimes embroiled in misunderstanding and quarrels which they settle afterwards, maintaining that going to the extent of kidnapping and attempting to kill Okenze Nkwoji portends that no one in the community was safe any longer.
It demanded that the assailants be brought to book to taste the bitter pills they forced the traditional prime minister to swallow line, hook and sinker.
The community however commended the brains behind the Peace Forum in the community noting that peace is usually discussed after the war.
It prayed for the quick recovery of Okenze Nkwoji to prove to his detractors that only God gives and takes life.
