Collation of results for the Anambra November 6th Governorship Election has seen the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) take the lead in the exercise that took place amidst an election exercise adjudged as safe but with low voter turnout.
The collation, which took place at the State Election Collation Center in Awka, started at 11 am on Sunday and was presided over by the state returning officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi.
The full results of the election from the 21 local government areas were also announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
APGA was announced the winner of 17 local government areas, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and Young Democratic Party(YDP) took one local government respectively.
There was no result for Ihiala local government as election did not hold in the local government while Orumba North did not record a result as the Collation Officer said he was made to sign the result sheet under duress.
The election was not without its fair share of challenges as the Bimodal Verification System Accreditation malfunctioned in some places, which caused The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the end of voting to 4 pm on Saturday and in sustained case of malfunctioning, voting continued till Sunday.
The late arrival of INEC Ad-hoc staff also caused a late start-up of voting in some polling units.
As promised by security agencies, the safety of lives and property ruled the day as little or no violence was recorded in most parts of the state.
