On the 8th of December 2020, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu paid an official visit to Anambra State Police Command. This was made known in a release signed by Anambra Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed.

He said that the IGP’s aim of the visit was to personally commiserate with the Command over the unfortunate attacks, killing of four police officers during the EndSARS protest which was hijacked by hoodlums who launched vicious and murderous attacks on police personnel and facilities in the state.

The IGP was received by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 headquarters, Ukpo, AIG Danmallam Mohammed and Commissioner of Police John Abang as well as other senior officers of the Command .

In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police John Abang thanked IGP Adamu for coming to the state. He also stated that following the outpour of sympathy that followed the attack on Police following the hijack of the EndSARS protest, the Command is certain that police was not attacked by communities they serve but by criminals, dissidents and disgruntled elements .

He also told the IGP that some good spirited members of the communities and State government have begun to rebuild, repair and renovate the facilities in 18 police stations barely six weeks after the onslaught.

He also mentioned that robust operational strategies and visibility patrol have begun by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and other Divisional formations.

In his response, the IGP commended the command for professionally handling the situation despite the provocations and for resuming full price activities within a shortest period of time .

He also praised Governor Willie Obiano for providing logistics and financial support , especially to the families of deceased police officers and to the injured personnel.

Other senior officers that were part of the IGP’s entourage were DIG Celestine Okoye and the Force PRO, DCP Frank Mba .
