
As a follow up to the call by Nigerian youths to #ENDSARS, the Inspector General of Police has dissolved the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory where they existed.
The protest which gained momentum on Social Media Platforms had Nigerian Youths calling for an end to the special Force Unit SARS and also a reform of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a National Live Broadcast yesterday afternoon, Mr Adamu, made the dissolution known . He said that the dissolution of SARS is in response to the yearnings of the Nigeria people. He also said that the men of the defunct SARS are being redeployed immediately.
IGP Adamu assured that a new policing arrangement to address gaps that the dissolution of SARS would cause has been evolved. He also said that measures to enhance transparency and accountability in Police services as well as providing a system of deterrence for.erring police officers whose actions clearly violates the rights of the citizenry is underway.
The IGP also appreciated and commended all citizens who genuinely expressed their concerns for a better police orientation in an organized, patriotic and Civil manner.
