The Katsina State Government has ordered, with immediate effect, the immediate closure of all illegal junction and roadside motor parks across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the Secretary to the Katsina State Government Mustapha Inuwa, stated that the owners of commercial vehicles [including luxurious buses] are further directed to immediately relocate their operations to designated and approved motor parks
.
Noting that this is in furtherance with consistent follow-up on the implementation of the Security Challenges [containment] Order – reviewed and approved by the State Executive Council during its 5th Regular Meeting on Wednesday, he added that the Council has also approved the compulsory use of Reflective Jackets by all Commercial Motor Cycle Riders across the State, to be issued by the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.
The statement also directed the Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Ya’u Umar Gwajo- Gawajo, his Works, Housing and Transport, counterpart, Tasi’u Dandagoro, and all security agencies to direct and ensure strict compliance.
