The Labour Party (LP) has dismissed reports suggesting that Anambra governorship aspirant Valentine Ozigbo recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he left the party in 2024.
LP National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, clarified this in a statement on Sunday, countering Ozigbo’s claims that the party’s internal crisis drove him away.
Ozigbo, a former Transcorp Plc CEO, said no serious candidate would remain in LP due to its instability. However, the party criticized his move, labeling it an act of desperation.
Ifoh also described Ozigbo as a mere “familiar face” in the Peter Obi campaign, accusing him of attempting to undermine the party for personal gain.
