Ahead of today’s local government elections set to hold in Lagos state, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), has expressed confidence in preparedness and security.
The Chairperson of LASIEC, Justice Ayo Philips, made this known known yesterday in an interview with journalists.
According to Philips, LASIEC was well aware of possible security threats and had been working hand-in-hand for over a month with the security agencies – the police and the civil defence, including the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, neighbourhood watch and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Adding that the Commissioner of Police in the State had given assurance of effective security, she noted that the Commissioner added that he was deploying an additional 25,000 policemen to Lagos to help oversee and ensure that the election is violence-free.
The election is expected to take place in the 57 Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas of the state.
Similarly, the Ogun State Electoral Commission has also expressed confidence in in preparedness and Security as the state also goes to the polls today
