Lagos State Govt. Seals Off Supermarket For Allegedly Displaying Expired Goods
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has sealed off a Supermarket named Blessed Happy Homes Superstore, located in the Festac area, over the display of “expired products on its shelves”.
The General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, said on Wednesday that the move was part of the agency’s efforts to clamp down on commercialisation of expired products in Lagos State
Afolabi said, “A lot of expired products were found, and it is unfortunate that we still persist in this part of the world to be doing this.
“Baby foods and other consumables that have expired since 2023 were displayed for sale.
“They were invited to the office but they didn’t come. We approached the court and got an order to seal the place.
“We are going to prosecute whoever is the owner of that superstore because this is Lagos. In Lagos, consumers are kings.”
Some people who reacted to the incident described people selling expired or fake products as killers who are only interested in money.
