Giving, they say is not as a result of how rich or how poor someone is but as a result of the largesse of one’s heart.
Such was the mindset of a bottled water seller in Ajah, Lagos who gave money to some inmates inside a van of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS in a viral video last week.
His gesture gained him an enormous commendation from Nigerians who applauded him for his love and generosity.
Following the incident, the hawker, whose name is Jeremiah has received donations of over 300,000 naira.
Speaking to newsmen, Jeremiah said he was prompted to act out of pity for the inmates. He said he has never been detained in the police station and he has his freedom to move, to eat, to do whatever he desires to do, unlike the inmates who have been denied of their power of freedom.
In a related development, popular businessman, Obi Cubana has offered the hawker, Jeremiah Ekuma university scholarship and employment in any of his companies.
He made this known in an Instagram Live video with Daddy Freeze where he also said that he will train the boy to do his Masters abroad if he so desires. He said that there are no conditions attached to his offer and if Jeremiah isn’t interested in schooling, he will still see him through whatever he wants to do.
He said doing good makes the world a better place.
In his response, Jeremiah thanked God for bringing him this far in life.
