Report says the people of Umuife village, Urum, were invaded by Achalla youths yesterday afternoon and killed one Mr. Ikechukwu Aaron and made away with his corpse.
The report added that the attackers also set more than three buildings ablaze, while property worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
The report further has it that sequel to the incident, one Mr. Samuel Afamefuna of Ifiteora village, Urum was chased out of his farm at Okpalafifia, while Mrs. Helen Nwoye of Ifiteora village, Urum, and many others from other villages in Urum have various reports on the harassment from the Achalla youths.
The report also alleged that on the 27th of May, 2020, the President General of Achalla Improvement Union allegedly moved into Ochiokwa farmlands with bulldozer; destroying food crops of Urum.
Going further, the story had it that as they were clearing the lands, the Urum youths heard of it and went there to stop them, when the people of Achalla started shooting and in the process, killed one Mr. Nwankwo Udefune (Igada) of Ifiteora village and made away with his corpse.
Awka North Transition Committee Chairman, Honourable Ferdinand Onwuje, and the member representing Awka North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly,
Honourable Chief John Nwokoye, have set up separate committees to look into the matter and make lasting peace between the two warring communities in Awka North although their efforts are yet to yield positive results.
