Life Lost, Property Worth Millions Of Naira Submerged By Flood In Nkpor.

Property worth millions of naira have destroyed and life lost as flood submerged houses, factory and farmland at Ugwu Mkpume Layout, Achalla Agu, Nkpor in Idemili North Council Area.

When ABS arrived the layout, it found flood covering the whole environment -the factories and farmland.

Some families living on first and second floors of storied apartments in the layouts where flood submerged compounds.

Speaking to Newsmen, the Vice President, Ugwu Mkpume Achalla Agu Landlords’ Association, Mr Ifeanyi Oghota, described the incident as unfortunate, lamenting that the state government good intentions to bring them joy and happiness have turned to sorrow due to wrong channelling of flood by the construction Company that handled the Road project at Inland Doors Nkpor- Umuoji Road.

He regretted the damage the bad hand work of the construction company has caused them and appealed to the state government to come to their aid.

Adding their voices, Dr Alex Okonkwo, Mr Peter Nwakudo and Mrs. Rose Enemchukwu, said that they have not witnessed this type of flood in the area in the 25 years they packed to the area.

They regretted the loss of a mother and the critical condition of her three children who were rushed to Royal Hospital Nkpor for revival.

They appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to come to their aid as flood from Ogidi, Umunachi, Eke Nkpor and Obosi are now channelled to the Layout that has no Sacamori drainage that can contain such massive flood.
