The Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Organization on Sunday, March 14, 2021, marked the year’s Mother’s Sunday by visiting 50 Anglican Churches to celebrate with the women of Anambra State.
Mother’s Sunday is an annual celebration marked by the Anglican Church every 4th Sunday of the Lenten period.
While speaking to journalists at the Holy Trinity Church, Ifite-Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, the Chairman of the VCO Organisation, Valentine Ozigbo, remarked that the role of mothers in society demands that they should be celebrated daily.
Mr Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, while appreciating mothers, described them as occupying an important, irreplaceable, and indespensible position in the church, school, and society”.
He said, “Mothers are the bonds that hold our world together. In our respective families, they are at the crux and center of the development and upbringing of children, training them to become the best version of themselves for a peaceful and prosperous community”.
The respected business leader added , “My mother was the most beautiful and hardworking woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her.
“Mothers play an important, irreplaceable, and indespensible role in our lives and they should be celebrated,” he said.
Ozigbo urged Christian mothers, to emulate those women of virtue mentioned in the Bible while discharging their motherly roles and duties in the families and society.
“As usual, this year’s celebration falls within the Lenten period, a season that calls for sober reflections in our lives and relationship with God and humanity,” Ozigbo, who is a prominent philanthropist, said.
Mr Valentine went ahead to reassure Christian mothers of his continuous support for them and the womenfolk in general.
“I wish our mothers the best as they celebrate their day today, and I will do my part to ensure a society where all forms of gender discrimination and gender-based violence become things of the past,” Ozigbo declared.
At St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Amesi, Aguata Council Area, the Parish Vicar, Reverend Dr Joseph Uwakwe, prayed for Mr Ozigbo, describing him as a worthy son of Amesi.
The clergyman expressed optimism at Ozigbo’s gubernatorial aspiration, as it would mark a new dawn in Amesi, Aguata local government and Anambra State in general.
Ozigbo received similar blessings when he visited St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Nawfia, St. Silas Anglican Church, Nawfia in Njikoka Council Area, as well as St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Ndiokpalaeze, in Orumba North Local Government Area.
Mr Ozigbo and his representatives visited 50 Anglican churches in the 21 local governments areas of Anambra State.
Valentine Ozigbo is the founder of the eponymously named non-profit charity Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, which focuses on women and youth empowerment.
Through its various programmes, it has touched the lives of over 100,000 people in Anambra State.
