Following Central Bank of Nigeria’s freezing of some EndSARS protesters accounts, Counsel for the Protesters, Mr Adesina Ogunlana has said that freezing of the bank accounts of the promoters of the protests had substantiated his submission to the panel on Friday that his life and those of his clients were being threatened.
In an interview with journalists, he said that freezing of their accounts is a declaration of war by the government.
He said that it didn’t make sense to set up a Judicial Panel to resolve the issues at hand and turn around to sanction the promoters drastically.
Mr Ogunlana said that one of the acts of fighting a war is starvation , which is what the federal government has the intention of doing to the Promoters of the EndSARS protests.
Still speaking on the federal government’s actions, a member of the panel who spoke under anonymity said that most members of the panel felt betrayed by the action of the Government. The member also said that Federal Government should not be the one undermining the efforts of the panel members
According to reports, the member also said that freezing of the bank account of Miss Rachael Oduala popularly known as Rinu is a direct affront on the intergrity of the panel. The member also wondered how the panel will get witnesses to come forward to testify and openly narrate their experiences under the present circumstances.
