Mrs. Soludo Urges Skill Acquisition Graduates To Pursue Their Careers With Truth, Hard Work
Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has charged over seventy graduates of Skill Acquisition Centre in Awka, to be committed to their craft and pursue their careers with truth and hard work.
She gave the advice while presenting empowerment kits to the over 70 graduands of the Skills acquisition Center which took place on Friday, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Development Centre, Awka.
Dr Soludo explained that it is the utmost desire of this administration to invest in youths, adding that state government has started series of schemes that target Anambra youths.
She promised to always monitor the success of the graduands.
She said the training and empowerment were to prepare the graduands for the future, by giving them necessary skills and platforms to be financially independent and become useful to their families and Society.
She said, “The training and empowerment programmes are to prepare you for tomorrow. You now have the necessary skills and platforms to be financially independent and become useful to your families and the state.
“You have been trained to also become employers of labour rather than depending solely on government and private organisations for job opportunities.
“I advice you all to be persistent, persevere, focused and committed to your crafts. Pursue your careers with truth and hard work.”
Earlier, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, identified skills acquisition as one of the ways to resolve the challenges posed by poverty among women and youths.
She urged the graduands to use their skills to make better living for themselves, their families and society, and add to the economic growth of the state.
“I congratulate you all. Be better ambassadors of the centre as you go into the world of business with great hope and courage,” she said.
The Wife of the Deputy Governor of the State, Lady Oluchi Ibezim, was present during the ceremony.
The skill acquisition centre domicile in the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, is graduating students annually in different skills to help them become self-reliant.
The programme, organized in collaboration with a non-governmental organization, Ebuka Okafor Foundation, brings total number of graduates from the Centre so far since inception in 2008, to One thousand, two hundred and twenty-nine.
Equipment given to the graduands include sewing machines, hair drying machines and mechanized ovens.
